Subject: Formal complaint – price rise on my broadband contract

Dear [Provider],

You have told me my broadband price will rise from [current amount] to [new or correct amount] a month from [date].

Ofcom's rules mean that price rises in contracts taken out from 17 January 2025 must be set out in pounds and pence. If a rise was not set out in my contract, or is bigger than my contract allowed, Ofcom says you must give me at least 30 days' notice and let me leave within 30 days without exit fees.

Please:
1. Show me where this rise is set out in my contract, and in what form.
2. If it was not set out in my contract, or is bigger than my contract allowed, confirm in writing that I can leave without exit fees.
3. Tell me the best price you can offer me for the services I use.

If this is not resolved within 6 weeks, or you send a deadlock letter, I will take my complaint to the relevant ombudsman scheme (Communications Ombudsman or CISAS).

Tips

Send it through your provider's complaints email, web form or post, and keep a copy with the date you sent it.
Note the date: you can usually go to the free complaint scheme (CISAS or the Communications Ombudsman) after 6 weeks, or sooner with a deadlock letter.
